5.2.2009 - Blessing in disguise
Whilst every Liverpool fan would love to see Steven Gerrard lifting the FA Cup at Wembley in May, the club are also involved in other competitions and getting knocked out of this one might not be the worst thing which could have happened.
Liverpool's league form has been patchy at best over the last month, not only seeing Man United wipe out the points advantage previously held at the top, but also seen Alex Ferguson's men begin to open up a bit of a gap themselves.
Gerard Houllier frequently spoke of certain defeats being blessings in disguise and whilst it was hard to agree with him in many cases, I firmly believe that this defeat will certainly be one to fall into that category, and allow Liverpool to regroup and focus purely on gaining some consistency back into their league form, before the title really starts to slip away.
