04.07.2005 - Reds confirm four new signings

Rafael Benitez

Boudewijn Zenden was unveiled at a press conference this afternoon, as Liverpool confirmed that four new players will be arriving at Anfield.

Zenden has been signed on a free transfer, after he opted not to renew his one year deal at Middlesbrough, which expired last month.

The Dutch winger, who has also played for Barcelona and Chelsea, will be joined by another winger, Mark Rodriguez, who will spend a season on loan from Albacete, with a permanent deal expected to be completed next summer.

Goalkeeper Jose Reina is also set to join for £6million from Villareal, after passing a medical, while highly rated 18-year-old full back Antonio Barragan will join from Sevilla, completing the quartet.

Benitez also announced that he will be continuing to improve the squad before the start of the season.
